Bomb Squad Investigating At Complex For Seniors, Disabled

June 5, 2008

Connecticut’s News Leader

Naugatuck, Conn — Police said they found materials that they believe could be used to make bombs at a Naugatuck housing complex for senior citizens and the disabled.

Naugatuck police were called just before noon to investigate after a suspicious substance was found at Oak Terrace Housing Complex at 53 Conrad St.

Police said they found hazardous materials, including accelerants and other materials they believe could be used to manufacture bombs in a resident’s room.

The complex was not evacuated, because the materials are located in a secure area away from the general population and state police said the complex did not have to be evacuated at any point, Naugatuck police said.
